The centerpiece of the overall Sarasota Memorial Hospital campus improvement project is the new nine-story, 220,000 square foot, 220-room patient bed tower. BCH Mechanical enhanced the mechanical infrastructure with the latest computer controls and graphic interface and extended chilled water services from the new central plant to provide individual controls to each patient room through individual fan coil units. The project utilized Temptrol fan wall technology, an integrated system of state-of-the-art fans, motors, and controls that provide redundancy, quiet operation, and optimized energy efficiency.
All mechanical equipment was consolidated to a single, dedicated floor. The new design, which contained seventeen(17) AHUs in a single area, increased the efficiency of maintenance staff when responding to repair calls. BCH also provided temporary cooling to the facility during construction in order to maintain clean ductwork and allow the facility to save the use of permanent equipment until it was ready for occupancy.
