M/WBE Participation

In 2005, the state of Florida doubled procurement from certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Woman-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs), compared to the previous year’s figures. While M/WBEs gain a great opportunity from outreach programs and initiatives, corporations that make subcontractor diversity a priority, whether driven by a sense of social responsibility, government mandates, or various other reasons, receive far-reaching intangible benefits. Economic Development Mentoring M/WBEs creates jobs and economic growth in your region. And as minority populations grow, minority owned businesses will become a significant force in our economy.

Competition
Helping M/WBEs to develop successfully increases competition. Competition generally results in lower prices, better selection, and greater quality from all firms.

Community Relations
Partnering with local minority subcontractors strengthens a firm’s ties to the community. Beyond corporate social responsibility, this is critical when recruiting new hires, expanding services to emerging markets, and remaining responsive to local trends and market shifts.

Entrepreneurial Spirit
It is rare for a large corporation to maintain the early enthusiasm and resourcefulness that is intrinsic to a startup firm. Forming a strategic alliance with a small minority subcontractor may inspire new energy and innovation in your own workforce.

At BCH Mechanical, we are proud of our commitment to minority enterprise partnerships and have established diversity as an important part of our corporate culture. Our firm reaches out to multiple certified minority subcontractors for our project needs including insulation, plumbing, materials, and day labor services for job site clean-up requirements.

We believe that our dedication to diversity offers a competitive advantage for our general contractors. BCH has mentored several M/WBEs that we could highly recommend for supplies, managerial services, and a variety of other project needs, if you would like to achieve greater minority participation.
