This state-of-the-art facility is home to Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as programs that explore developments at the Chemistry-Biology interface. It is equipped with the latest in educational, technological, and scientific instrumentation.
BCH Mechanical performed the mechanical scope for this LEED Silver laboratory project. The HVAC included two 290-ton water cooled magnetic bearing chillers, gas fired boilers, and hydronic pumping to distribute a four-pipe hot and chilled water system. The lab spaces use 134 air valves and supply air terminals to manage precise air flow into the rooms. High plume fume exhaust fans remove the toxic fumes from the labs via an elaborate stainless steel ductwork system. An Andover Direct Digital Control system automates the facility and connects to the main campus system.
