Did you know that a Central Energy Plant (CEP) can be pre-fabricated before installation on the job site? These CEPs, manufactured by EAS, are designed and built to spec in a controlled environment. They can be customized to include chillers, generators, cooling towers, boilers, controls, electrical, and more. Fully piped and insulated in the factory, they also come outfitted with platforms, stairs, walkways, and grating. This off-site design and prefab capability allows facility owners to have systems created to meet their individual project needs. Furthermore, these plants are scalable
which means that additional equipment may be added as needed, in some cases, reducing capital costs.

EAS Central Energy Plants in the Field
BCH Mechanical has most recently incorporated a prefabricated CEP on the VA Regional Office project, in St. Petersburg. The new Central Energy Plant included two (2) skid mounted water cooled chillers at 400 tons each; four (4) chilled/condenser water pumps including VFDs; two (2) cooling towers, and one (1) exhaust fan. The chillers, pumps, skids, and pipe spools were all provided by EAS. This allowed the BCH team to focus mainly on installation of equipment, underground piping, and insulation in the field. A temporary chiller was also set up while the existing plant was demolished. Using this system, BCH was able to save the project both time and money while providing a system designed to be energy-efficient and easily serviceable.
