Tampa General Hospital serves a 12-county region of West Central Florida with a population in excess of 4 million people. TGH is the primary teaching hospital for the University of South Florida (USF) College of Medicine, which is one of the nations top 100 research universities. This five-story, 280,000 square foot addition was completed in 2008.
The Central Energy Plant (CEP) was expanded with new chillers, and towers to upgrade the mechanical infrastructure at the Hospital. Along with over 10,000 lineal feet of piping, and 560,000 pounds of sheet metal.
BCH Mechanical performed the air conditioning, plumbing, and sheet metal for the new wing of this growing hospital. A Construction Management (CM) fee-based agreement allowed Skanska to select BCH Mechanical at the Design Development (DD) stage. BCH then worked together to finalize the design, pre-purchase equipment, and provide trade coordination. This in turn dramatically reduced change orders and delays while accelerating the project schedule.
