USF St. Petersburg hired Creative Contractors as the construction manager for a new multi-purpose student center that includes a 200-bed residence hall, kitchen and dining area, multiple meeting areas, and a lounge. Creative is well known as a green building specialist in the Tampa Bay area and this project included many energy saving components to achieve LEED Gold.
BCH Mechanical performed the mechanical scope on this project. The system is an extension of the campus chilled water loop and serves four (4) chilled water air handling units, 126 fan coil units and a 100% fresh air unit serving the residences. To further the green building effort, four (4) energy recovery ventilators are utilized to reduce capacity required from the chilled water air handling units. Extremely efficient condensing boilers are delivering hot water to the resident fan coil units and are used as reheat in various other applications.
