The 523-bed residence hall is an 11-story new high rise that is set to be completed in August 2013. Designed with energy conservation in mind, there is a solar array on the roof that will supply hot water to the building.
The 193,000 square foot hall reflects the latest in university campus amenities with each room being a suite with common living room, four single bedrooms and two full baths. The facility also has several student lounge and gathering spaces, as well as laundry room and common kitchen.
The building has a chilled water four-pipe mechanical system, connected to the Central Energy Plant, with vertical fan coils for the residences and air handlers with VAV boxes for the common areas. The project employs energy recovery ventilators for pre-conditioning the outside air and a full direct digital control system to fully automate the mechanical system.
